About Us

A family originally from Ethiopia with a passion for health equity and charitable work within the entire East African region.

In 2023, four family members founded and established EastAfroSight, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. They all have an extensive history of clinical volunteering in the sector of health equity on a national and global scale. At the heart of EastAfroSight is Dr. Sentayehu Kassa, the president and driving force. Originally trained as an ophthalmologist in Vienna, Austria, Now a board-certified family medicine physician with over 26 years of experience in the Dallas, Texas area, she has dedicated her career to providing accessible healthcare. She is also the Associate Medical Director for the southern region and Optometry, as well as Deputy Medical Information officer for Ambulatory Care at Parkland Health. For over 20 years, she has founded and led an annual health fair in Dallas, offering free medical checkups and scans to hundreds of East Africans in the community. Her lifelong vision has always been to continue this volunteer work on a larger scale in East Africa, and that is when EastAfroSight was born.
